Christmas Time

Well I am a little late on this post but I really wanted to post about Christmas. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I love getting in the spirit of the season every year! I got all of my love for Christmas from my daddy! This was his favorite holiday also and let me tell you our house was all decked out when he was alive! He even hand made the sled and reindeer that were in front of our house! For everyone that met my dad knew that he didnt only love Christmas but he also looked like Santa and he loved giving this time of year! My dad always made sure we had a big Christmas. The last Christmas I spent with him he went out of his way to make sure my brother and I got a new 32g ipod (this was in 2005 so ipods were flying off the shelves and hard to find) and also got me a portable dvd player. He never wanted my brother or I to do without on Christmas. Now a days my family does not really exchange gifts with each other anymore. We are all adults (I am the baby of the family) and we do not think present are as important anymore. But my mom did go out of her way and get me a pair of TOMS that I have been trying to get for like 2 months so I am so thankful for her making sure I got them for Christmas!! (She tries really hard to make sure some things in my life dont change to much) So my dad passed his love and spirit of Christmas on to me and I am trying really hard to keep it alive! One thing that he made sure happened every year was that all the family got together on Christmas day for a good meal! When he passed away 5 years ago I was very worried that this tradition would stop but it hasnt and I am so happy for this!! Christmas to me is a time for family, friends, love and Jesus!

But Christmas to me is also a time of year when I really miss my daddy the most! I miss his spirit and love for the year. I miss hearing Christmas music every day in the house. I miss watching Christmas movies with him and going to see the new Christmas movie of the year with him. I miss having a house all decorated and lit up. I miss his wrapping and beautiful bows that he would make to go on our presents. I really miss his wonderful cooking and new food "inventions" he would try every year! But most of all I really just miss having him here to share in everything with me!

So for as much as I love this time of year and all it stands for, it really makes me miss my daddy. So I am happy and loving spending time with my friends and family but a little piece of me is missing and I notice it a lot this time of year. But Daddy I thank you for giving me this love for Christmas and showing me what holiday cheer should really be like! I can not wait to one day pass your love for Christmas on to my kids!!

I hope everyone has a great Christmas! Enjoyed your time with family and Friends! And got all you wanted! Now lets bring on 2012 and the knew memories that will be made!!

Epic Weekend 2011

This past weekend I went to Winston-Salem to celebrate some friends birthday and catch up with some old friends I havent seen in a long time. We named the weekend Epic Weekend 2011. We fit 14 people and a duck into a 2 bedroom apt for the weekend. We had so much fun! Everyone that attended all work/worked for Varsity. We all have worked together at one point or another and it was so great that we could all actually get together for a weekend when we didnt have to work! So for those of you that know how the redshirts can throw down then you understand why this weekend was so epic!

Everyone arrived at some point on Friday. I arrived at like 12:30, and Beth, Becca and I went out to see Erin at her store, saw the farm for a min and Erin gave us 14lbs of steak (that she had already cut and seasoned) for us to grill at some point during the weekend. She is the best!! We got back to beeca's house around 4:30 and well lets just say it didnt take long for the party to get started. Everyone finally arrived by 9pm Friday night and we just hung out at the house, played games and just caught up with each other. Erin and James even came over to hangout for awhile once everyone was there! It was just so much fun to have a big group of us together again!

Saturday morning we went to IHOP for breakfast. We had a party of 14 and you would have thought it was the end of the world! We started grilling out at about 5 and let me tell you those steaks were very good! Saturday night we went to a place called Johnny and Junes Saloon. Lets just say that we did not fit into this place but we def made it our own! They had corn hole, darts (without darts), pool, a bull, a live band and of course a dance floor. But the best thing they had were hula hoops. We did not understand why they had these but we def had fun with them! We played games from this summers beach bash and lets just say people looked at us like we were nuts. But hey you give us something to play with and we will play with it! We had so much fun making up our own  line dances and just having fun hanging out together. We some how missed the memo that it was plaid shirt night there but we didnt mind standing out and being different because well when we are all together we are always that group anyway! We also saw a group of people wearing ugly Christmas sweaters and a woman who had a balloon attached to her that said "Its a Girl". I dont know if it was a joke or not but in the end I really think it is wrong to have that balloon with you in a saloon! Just not the right place for something like that! Lets just say this was the best place to people watch! We had so much fun, which we always do when we all get together!

But I had so much fun this weekend! I really needed it! I miss everyone already but cant wait to see most of you again in a few weeks at college nationals! I am ready fro round 2 even though we will be working this time around! Thank you Jenny and Becca for being great hostess this weekend! Hope this was a great birthday party for both of you!! Bring on round 2!
